Positive Reviews
positive:
Nice hotel + very welcoming.
The hotel is very nice and clean and the welcome and general assistance from members of staff ensures a pleasant stay. It represents excellent value. Interestingly, while it only has two stars, the Wi-Fi signal is startlingly good.
positive:
The location is great.
You can walk with ease to the main centre and to tourist attractions. If that's too much effort, then the Perrache metro station is only a few minutes' walk away. There are restaurants nearby and if you're here in December, you couldn't be better placed for the Christmas markets.
positive:
Effective air conditioning.
Particularly during the summer months, some of these older, independent, hotels suffer as the result of lack of air conditioning ... or a system that doesn't function properly. Not a problem here. Rooms are at a comfortable temperature at all times.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Beware of 'extras'.
The tariff is reasonably cheap because it covers just the basics of your stay. Parking is secure and locked at night, but it comes with an additional cost. So, too, does breakfast. It's worth investing in breakfast though: with really lovely homemade jams and good quality coffee.
negative:
Les petites chambres'.
However you describe them, some rooms here are very small and cramped ... but not all of them. Specify a larger room + you'll be very happy.
negative:
Not the 'Lyon's share of night time sleep'
Beds are small and mattresses, hard. Windows aren't double glazed so you get endless city noise. This situation isn't helped by the constant comings and goings at the nearby car park ... and the neighbouring park area which specialises, it seems, in noisy pensioners!
